Going to Louisville, Kentucky!

Bourbon, Baseball Bats and Lots of Education. We must be absolutely crazy… But Jesse, Jane and I will be taking off in the middle of one of our busiest times of year to attend the largest Green Industry Educational Event in the country - GIE + Expo. We will be there for three days this month attending seminars, classes and checking out the latest and greatest in equipment and technology. Our goal is to come back to work with some new ideas and tools that we can incorporate into our everyday work.

Of course, we heard Louisville is a cool town. We will take some time to check out a couple of the local attractions; Louisville Slugger Museum, the Urban Bourbon Trail and of course Churchhill Downs.  While we are away, all calls will be routed to voicemail. Emails and Voicemails will be checked twice a day and information will be communicated back to the crews in the field.

Big Blue Sky Sightings!

Our Installation Crews have been working non-stop creating some pretty amazing landscape transformations. Places you may have seen us:

235 Superior Ave, Decatur
An absolutely lovely back yard was refreshed and restored. 10 years ago, this property was professionally designed in installed. Many unique trees and shrubs were incorporated into the landscape. Hardscapes were well designed and installed. This property has wonderful bones. We were able to salvage many of the great features and add some really nice new features as well. We will be taking care of this property and hope to add it to our first annual Spring Garden Tour!

1500 Sylvan Circle, Atlanta
This is a landscape we have managed for years. This relatively new home is big on details inside. However, the outside was lacking. The new front yard is now welcoming and colorful thanks to new plantings and an improved irrigation system.  Best looking house on the street.

825 Lake Ave, Atlanta
This new Inman Park Home was the former “Show Home” of the developer. The small landscape was bland and lifeless. The backyard was redesigned into a courtyard area perfect for entertaining and relaxing. The sounds of the City are drowned out by a lovely tiered water fountain. Colorful flower beds are surrounded by fragrant flowering shrubs making this charming back yard inviting to all who enter.

117 Lucerne Street, Decatur
This property has been under our care for many years and is one of our favorites. Despite great care, we lost the entire front lawn to a fungal disease early this Summer. While not ideal, it did allow for a long awaited and much needed improvement to the existing irrigation system. We designed and installed a high efficiency WaterSense irrigation system. The highlights include drip irrigation in all shrub and ornamental beds with micro-sprays for annual flowers. The lawn areas are irrigated using special pressure regulated nozzles that reduce runoff and increase the depth of soil saturation while reducing the amount of water used (think low flow fixtures). Speaking of lawns… We also installed a new lawn that will resist disease and provide for better drought tolerance.

508 Princeton Way, Atlanta
“Welcome to the Jungle”... this was how I was initially introduced to Gigi’s and Omar’s backyard. After removing over 20,000lbs of debris and deconstructed retaining walls, we were able to begin work. A new stairway constructed of Cut Stone Boulders and Flagstone lead to a circle patio. The multi-level landscape was re-graded to allow for a new shade tolerant lawn for the girls to play on.  Concrete Benches were installed and overlook over 100 new plantings. “I can’t believe this is our yard! Amazing! I am buying a grill and inviting everyone over!” Omar told us.

We have many other projects completed and many more to come. These are just a few highlights that I wanted to share with you. If you find yourself around these landscapes, stop by and check them out.
