Consider A High Quality Outdoor Lighting System

As Autumn sets in, days become shorter and nights grow longer, leaving little-to-no available daylight for you to enjoy your outdoor spaces.  With the incorporation of landscape lighting, you can enjoy your living spaces beyond the confines of your home.  Enjoy the landscape you are forced to give up during the shorter days of the year.

In addition to prolonging the enjoyable hours spent outdoors, there are other benefits to landscape lighting.

Safety and Security - There are several different kinds of landscape lighting fixtures that can provide safety and security for the home.  Some lights are designed to prevent intruders from breaking in, while others are created to make walkways and pool areas safer.

Aesthetics and Ambience - A landscape lighting system can add beauty to any home. Depending on your taste, there are lighting effects like up lighting, silhouetting and moon lighting that can give homeowners the mood and style they want.

Property Value - Though landscape lighting is primarily installed because the client simply enjoys the look and added safety, they are also real estate benefits.

Big Blue Sky Landscaping partnered with FX Luminaire, a manufacturer of premium landscape lighting, a couple of years ago. We chose this FX because of their commitment to the end-user, you. Transformers come with a standard 10 year Warranty! Fixtures are the highest quality Copper and steel (among others). Check them out for yourself at www.FXL.com . When you are ready to experience your landscape at night, let us know. We can set up a demonstration at your house before you decide.

Winterize your Irrigation System

Broken, leaky pipes are the worst. Damage to your irrigation system is preventable by simply winterizing each Fall. Think of it this way: Your irrigation system is composed of hundreds of feet of PVC pipe. Water is static in these pipes when the system is at rest. Pressure is constant. Much like a Coca Cola is in the can. However, when water freezes it expands. This expansion requires extra space. When space is not available the pipes can crack under pressure. (Think of a can of Coca Cola in the Freezer). The damage caused by freezing pipes can be costly and time consuming to repair. Worst yet, it often happens in an area that must be replanted after the repair is completed.

Now, I am not trying to cause alarm. Rather, my purpose is to inform you and urge you to allow us to properly Winterize your irrigation system so the likelihood of this scenario is greatly reduced. The process of Winterizing can take as little as 30 minutes and is worthwhile insurance throughout the winter. Let us know if you would like to be added to the schedule. We are looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Super Special Plant Deal of the Month!

This month we are very pleased to have a wonderful tree for you. This tree is wonderful because it thrives in our urban environment. It is long-lived and tolerant of insects, disease and drought. It shows Beautiful Fall color and provides a dense Summer shade. So what is this Super Special Tree?

We have worked with a very special grower to provide these directly to you from their farm right here in Georgia. This is the absolute best time to plant this tree. The roots will establish during the Winter and early Spring and be ready for Summer. Plant in your landscape or give as a gift. We have a limited quantity and need to confirm our order by Thanksgiving.

Congratulations to Micah Fletcher!

I would like to formally welcome Micah Fletcher to the Big Blue Sky Family. Micah joined us a few months ago and has earned a place in our Landscape Management Supervisor Training Program. Micah will be spending the next 4 months learning and honing his landscaping skills in the classroom and in the field. I am excited about having Micah aboard and hope you will join me in congratulating him as he takes on this new challenge.
