Bourbon, Baseball Bats and Lots of Education. We must be absolutely crazy… But Jesse, Jane and I will be taking off in the middle of one of our busiest times of year to attend the largest Green Industry Educational Event in the country - GIE + Expo. We will be there for three days this month attending seminars, classes and checking out the latest and greatest in equipment and technology. Our goal is to come back to work with some new ideas and tools that we can incorporate into our everyday work.

Well…As I sit on my back patio Fall is peaking around the corner. The evening temperatures are cooling. My Crape Myrtles are just about spent. The Lantana that engulfed the perennial beds is slowing down enough to enjoy. And I know soon the Maples and Oakleaf Hydrangeas will be a brilliant red (Go Dawgs!). Summer is waning.

I was sitting on my back porch last weekend with my 5 year old daughter discussing whatever she thought was important at the time. The weather was perfect. Low 70’s, slight breeze, bright sun shining down. The fading blooms of our Okame cherry tree graced the freshly mowed lawn. The smell of Daphne provided a lovely perfume that set the mood. It was wonderful.

As a new Rotarian, Scott Reinblatt saw an opportunity to give back to the community in a long lasting and profound way. He reviewed all the landscape plans to date, made some suggestions and called upon his favorite partners, Tree House Farm and Hunter Irrigation for contributions. Scott then went to the design board and modified the landscape plan to include Beautiful, flowering trees and shrubs that would welcome visitors and residents alike.
